Local Historical Studies in Da’an: Sketching the C-LAB Site

This fall, in the series activities of “Local Historical Studies in Da’an: A Walking Tour around C-LAB and Jianguo Brewery Vicinities,” participants explored the areas surrounding C-LAB and the Jianguo Brewery guided by LIN Szu-Chun. From the perspective of contemporary architecture, participants re-discovered and sketched the buildings on the C-LAB site. This site has had different uses during different eras, from the industrial research institute to the Air Force Command Headquarters to today’s C-LAB. How can we trace the past based on architectural cues? In addition, through the resulting sketches, we can think about the connections between aesthetics and function within the so-called architecture.
