CREATORS Presentation—Peeling: Technical Experiments with Everyday Marks

“Along the side of the road, I accidentally discovered reishi mushroom-like lines on the back side where the paint had mostly fallen off the rusted metal. To those rust crystals were attached contoured records of time like a structure in which layers represent different periods.” LEE Yung-Chih and SONG Chia-Yun, who participated in the 2022 CREATORS program, transformed everyday materials into research and experimental subjects. They built a greenhouse and attempted to “cultivate” these mottled traces of time, re-examining how we view the rise and decline of materials and issues of existence.
