A “New” World with Exchanged Identities?

Inverso Mundus by Russian art group AES+F is a three-channel video installation that presents an absurd yet seemingly real, imaginary world. In Italian, “inverso” means “reverse” and “opposite” and, in ancient Italian, “poetry.” The Latin word “mundus” refers to “the world.” In this work, AES+F reinterprets the reality. Based on various social roles, identities are exchanged, resulting in mismatched relationships. As hybrid creatures soar through the air, the slow flow of images creates a whimsical view of contemporary life.
