Double Echoing
The 13th Gwangju Biennale Pavilion Project

Titled “Double Echoing,” this exhibition revolves around the history of Taiwan and South Korea, both of which had suffered the cruelty of war, colonization, diaspora and repressive rule from late 19th century. The two East Asian democratic countries have highly similar fates like twins in modern history. In addition, the alignment with Western Bloc and the democratization process after the Second World War and the Korean War of the two countries were almost the same, like echoes or mirror images, reflecting the history of each other.
