A coffee bar in the cultural park.

Open a coffee bar in C-LAB!

Coffee is a life’s necessity, yet it is more of an extension of consumer desire and an alternative symbol of consumer culture than we thought. Following his consistent creative context of “surface engineering” and “fakeology,” the artist built a coffee bar named CLABBUCKS at C-LAB. This alluring space beckons, inviting the visitors to imagine themselves hanging out at the empty bar, enjoying coffee and basking in the cultural ambience.

In this work, the artist not only responds to the public imagination of a cultural park, but also addresses its absolutely indispensable constituents. If consumer culture is the necessary commodity for a cultural park, does it imply that everything is fake but consumption?
